Ensuring You AND Your Boat Are Legal This Season
Despite the fact that it is snowing today at TRL Watersports headquarters here in Springfield, Missouri, nothing can dim our enthusiasm that we will be doing what we love out on the water here very soon! Before we race out to the docks, however, we thought we would provide you with some resources that will help you ensure that you, your boat and its equipment are both legal and most importantly, safe, this upcoming season.
Your first resource should undoubtedly be the U.S. Coast Guard’s website where you will find definitive answers to all your questions to boating and boating safety at the federal level. It is a great resource and can be found right here. Additionally you can reference their excellent boater’s guide to the federal requirements for recreational boats.
Another superb resource is NASBLA. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators is a national nonprofit organization that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories. They offer a variety of resources, including training, model acts, education standards, publications and more. Here you can find fantastic information on state specific laws and standards with links to educational resources for anyone who desires (or requires) a boater’s safety course in their state.
Take the time to ensure both you and your beloved boat are legal as you get ready for the season. It will help ensure a safe and hassle-free summer of good times and great memories on the water. See you out there!
Happy Boating!
